When it comes to real estate, Jordan Cauthorne doesn't just see it as a family business. To her, it's a means of creating wealth and she's using her passion for dance and social media to inspire younger generations to consider becoming homeowners. As a Baltimore-based entrepreneur in the real estate industry, Cauthorne has gained a significant following on Instagram with her videos showcasing affordable homes on the market, both inside and out, while she dances along to the beat.
With her licenses in both Maryland and Washington D.C., Cauthorne has been exposed to the world of real estate since she was a child. Her mother, Dr. Janie Cauthorne, is a successful entrepreneur who owns the brokerage where Jordan works, Real Estate Executives.
Not only that, but she was also inspired by her older sister who obtained her real estate license at just 18 years old. "I remember seeing my sister achieve that at such a young age and it motivated me to do the same," Cauthorne shared during a recent interview with WJZ CBS News Baltimore. Growing up, Cauthorne saw firsthand the impact that homeownership can have on families and their financial stability.
This, in turn, inspired her to use her knowledge and skills to help others achieve the same goal. As a student at Howard University, Cauthorne is determined to make a positive impact and change the narrative around homeownership for young adults. Initially, Cauthorne tried to follow the traditional route of creating informative real estate videos, but she soon found that this approach wasn't resonating with her audience.
That's when she decided to incorporate her love for dance into her content. "I've been dancing since I was a child, learning different styles like ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary," she explained. "So when I started creating content for real estate, I wanted to bring that authenticity to my work." By showcasing her personality through dance, Cauthorne was able to break away from the fear of being dismissed due to her age and instead embrace what made her unique.
And it paid off. Her videos have gained a significant number of views and have successfully introduced a younger audience to the world of homeownership. Cauthorne's goal is to challenge young adults to consider homeownership as a viable option instead of just moving out of their parents' house and renting an apartment.
With her content, she aims to educate and inspire her viewers to start thinking about their future and the possibility of homeownership at a younger age. "It's important for young people to understand that they don't have to wait until they're older to start planning for their future," she stated in an interview with BLACK ENTERPRISE. As she continues to pursue her architectural degree at Howard, Cauthorne is determined to make real estate more approachable for young adults and use her platform to encourage them to consider ownership as a viable option.
She believes that by investing in a mortgage, individuals can create a form of savings for themselves, rather than just paying rent to a landlord. Cauthorne's mission is to empower young adults to take control of their financial future and think beyond just renting an apartment. As she says, "You can own a home." And with her platform, she's making sure that message is heard loud and clear.
