The Lower Highland neighborhood of Denver is about to say goodbye to a beloved fried chicken joint. The Post Chicken & Beer, located at 1575 Boulder St., will be shutting its doors after dinner service on Saturday, December 7th. This news comes straight from Dave Query, the founder and co-owner of the Big Red F restaurant group.
It's always sad to see a popular restaurant go, and this closure is no exception. The Post has been a staple of the neighborhood since it opened in 2022, following the closure of another neighborhood favorite, Lola Coastal Mexican, which had been there since 2006. Query originally started The Post as a brewery in a former VFW building in Lafayette, and then expanded to the LoHi location.
In a statement, Query expressed his gratitude for the 20 years the restaurant has had in LoHi. He also mentioned that he is currently looking to open a new Post location outside of Denver, as well as a stand-alone shop for ButterPunk Cookies. The latter was opened by executive chef Corina Johnson this past summer as an order window at The Post LoHi.
Unfortunately, Query declined a request for an interview through a representative on Wednesday. However, it's worth noting that The Post Chicken & Beer has other locations across the Front Range, including a south Denver restaurant on Broadway. It's the LoHi location, however, that gained national recognition when it was featured on an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" with Guy Fieri.
In addition to The Post, Big Red F also owns Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, West End Tavern, Centro Mexican Kitchen, and Velvet Elk Lounge.
