Exciting news for fans of the Lidl Freeway cola truck! If you missed out on seeing it during its November tour, don't worry because it's coming back for a Christmas tour with some additional stops. And the best part? You may have the chance to score some fun freebies from Lidl along the way.
The giant 15 tonne, 20-metre-long vehicle, which has been compared to the iconic Coca-Cola truck, will be making stops outside various Lidl stores in locations such as Dundee, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Aberdeen. This tour is a continuation of the first leg where the truck "granted wishes" and gave out over 2,000 Middle Aisle present boxes, similar to the mystery boxes sold in August.
Inside these boxes, lucky recipients could find items worth up to £100, and one in ten boxes contained a golden ticket worth £100 to be used for Christmas shopping at Lidl. This time around, a number of present boxes will be given out at each stop on a first come, first served basis. And on top of that, each stop will feature a pop-up wonderland where visitors can sample festive food from the supermarket.
The tour dates for the Christmas truck have been announced and it will be stopping at various locations from December 5th to 23rd. Some of the stops include Newton Abbot, Cardiff, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Castleford, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Aberdeen. And to make things even more exciting, Lidl's Christmas ad this year will feature the Freeway truck and its driver, known as "Nick."
Marketing Director at Lidl GB, Joanna Gomer, expressed her excitement for the extended tour, saying, "We have been blown away by the response to our Lidl Freeway Christmas tour. We love nothing more than spreading Christmas cheer to the communities we serve, and to see over 10,000 people visit and enjoy the experience made extending the tour an absolute must. We are excited to now take the Freeway fun directly to our customers in stores across the country."
But that's not all the exciting news from Lidl. They have also announced plans to open 10 new stores across the UK by 2024, including in areas like Bristol, Devon, and Birmingham. They also have plans to solidify their presence in London with three new stores and the refurbishment and extension of three existing stores, which will create up to 400 job opportunities.
