Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced today that preparations are in full swing for the inventory of Puri Srimandir's Ratna Bhandar, which will commence on March 25 after a gap of 48 years. In order to ensure complete transparency and accurate documentation of the temple's precious ornaments and valuables, advanced technology such as videography, photography, and 3D mapping will be utilized. This marks the first time that gemologists and officials from the Reserve Bank of India will be involved in this process, along with expert goldsmiths.
However, Minister Harichandan was quick to clarify that there will be no valuation of the items, and the focus will solely be on proper documentation and verification. During his visit to the 12th century shrine to review the preparations, the minister emphasized the importance of conducting the inventory process in a systematic, secure, and transparent manner. He also made it clear that the daily rituals of the temple must not be disrupted during this time, and instructed officials to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prepared by the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
The Orissa POST, Odisha's leading English daily, will be closely following this historic event and providing updates on the progress of the inventory. Stay tuned for more information on this significant undertaking at one of the most revered temples in the country.
