The Governor of Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati, emphasized the importance of both education and skill development working together to create a workforce that can compete on a global scale. His remarks were made during the opening ceremony of the NSDC's international center at the Skill Development Institute in Bhubaneswar.

The Governor commended the Skill India Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 and praised Odisha's efforts under the leadership of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He expressed his joy in seeing Odisha emerge as a hub for skill development and employment.
Governor Kambhampati also praised the state-of-the-art 47-acre campus of the SDI, which was built with a Rs 500-crore investment. He recognized the institute as a finishing school for engineering, polytechnic, and ITI students. In addition, he inaugurated the NSDC International Academy, which aims to prepare youth for overseas employment, and flagged off the 'Skill on Wheel' project - a mobile training unit designed to bring outreach training programs to different educational institutions across Odisha.
Sampad Chandra Swain, the Minister of State for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education in Odisha, also spoke at the event. He noted that the institute will not only impart technical skills but also play an essential role in shaping responsible and capable individuals. With the support of the government, the Skill Development Institute is poised to make a significant contribution to the development of a skilled workforce in Odisha and beyond.
