The Enforcement Directorate, a central agency, has taken action against popular YouTuber Siddharth Yadav, also known as Elvish Yadav, and others for allegedly using snake venom as a recreational drug at parties. According to official sources, the agency has filed a money laundering case based on a FIR and charge sheet filed by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police in Uttar Pradesh last month. The ED is now investigating the alleged generation of illegal funds and their use for organizing rave parties.
As part of the investigation, Yadav and others involved in the case will be questioned. It should be noted that Yadav was previously arrested on March 17 by the Noida Police for his suspected involvement in using snake venom at parties. The 26-year-old, who rose to fame after winning the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 2, was charged under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the Wildlife Protection Act, and the Indian Penal Code.
The case against Yadav and others was initially filed on November 3 last year after a representative from the animal rights NGO People for Animals lodged a complaint. Five snake charmers were arrested in November and later released on bail by a local court. They were caught with nine snakes, including five cobras, and 20 ml of suspected snake venom at a banquet hall in Noida. However, Yadav was not present at the scene at the time.
In April, the Noida Police submitted a charge sheet of over 1,200 pages, which included charges of snake trafficking, using psychotropic substances, and organizing rave parties. The police are taking this case seriously and are determined to bring all those involved to justice. Such actions not only harm the society but also endanger the lives of innocent animals. The ED will continue their investigation and take necessary actions against those found guilty of these illegal activities.
