Monty, the beloved dog of the Dingle family, had a bit of a scare recently and needed some urgent medical attention. But before we get into that, let's take a look at the latest episode of Emmerdale that aired on July 6. Now, I must warn you, there are some spoilers ahead for those who haven't caught up yet.
However, if you're like me and can't wait for the episode to air on ITV1, you can always check it out on ITVX or YouTube. It seems like the year 2026 has not been kind to the Dingles. Between Cain's prostate cancer diagnosis and their ongoing struggles, the family has been dealing with a lot.
Cain received the news about his health back in January and underwent a major operation in May. Since then, he has been trying to cope with the side effects, which have unfortunately included impotence and incontinence. A few weeks ago, Cain and Moira went to the hospital for a follow-up appointment after the operation.
Sadly, the doctor informed them that there is a high chance of the cancer spreading. Ms. Rhodes also mentioned that Cain would require more treatment, but it could potentially have permanent side effects.
This news has put a lot of pressure on Cain and has caused some strain in his relationship with Moira. Speaking of relationships, Cain's stubbornness is also affecting his bond with his son Kyle. The young boy has been struggling to process his emotions and has resorted to destructive behavior, such as setting fires on the Emmerdale farm.
Their neighbor Graham Foster has been trying to help Kyle find healthier ways to cope, but a recent revelation about his mother's death has caused him to act out once again. In today's episode, Kyle started a fire in a shed outside Wishing Well. Unfortunately, he didn't realize that Monty was inside, and the poor pup ended up getting trapped.
Cain and Moira rushed to the rescue and managed to free Monty, but they had to rush him to the vets for treatment. This incident made Cain realize that shouting at Kyle was not going to solve their issues and he decided to seek help from Graham. In a surprising turn of events, Cain and Graham ended up working together to build a new shed.
Kyle also joined in and seemed to be enjoying himself, which was a relief for everyone. However, things took a turn for the worse when Paddy Kirk arrived with some upsetting news. It turns out that there is a chance that Monty might have cancer, and Kyle is left wondering what his next move should be.
It's been a tough day for the Dingles, and it looks like things are only going to get more complicated. We'll have to wait and see how Kyle deals with this latest blow to his family. What do you think will happen next?
