The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Saturday that the results for the Class X second board exams have been declared. According to officials, the pass percentage has shown a significant increase, reaching 96.78. This is a noteworthy improvement from the first edition, which had a pass percentage of 93.6.
The new pass percentage is a combination of both results. In the second edition of the board exams, over 6.63 lakh candidates appeared, with more than 5.13 lakh students taking the exam for improvement purposes. CBSE Examination Controller, Sanyam Bhardwaj, stated that over 59% of candidates were able to improve their performance compared to the main exam.
Additionally, in the compartment category, over 1.49 lakh students took the exam, with over 52% of them successfully clearing it, as reported by Bhardwaj. Aligning with the recommendations of the National Education Policy-2020, CBSE has introduced two board exams for Class X starting from 2026. The main exam was held from February 17 to March 11, followed by the second exam from May 15 to May 21.
This second exam gave eligible students the opportunity to enhance their performance, with the better of the two performances being considered for the final result. PTI reported that the new system has been well-received, with the pass percentage showing a considerable increase. Orissa POST, Odisha's No.1 English Daily, also shared the news of the improved results.
This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, as well as the efforts put in by the CBSE board to provide them with a fair and equal opportunity to excel in their exams.
