Teen accused of leading chant mocking Man Utd legend at Etihad.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with a public order offence after chanting about the death of Sir Bobby Charlton at Manchester City's home game against Brighton on Saturday. Greater Manchester Police said the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been bailed with conditions to not attend any regulated football matches. He is set to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Youth Court on November 13.

The force also reported that a 14-year-old boy who was voluntarily interviewed in connection with the incident will be dealt with out of court. Sir Bobby Charlton died at the age 86 on October 21, with his family announcing the news on Saturday.

In response to the chants aimed at Charlton during City's 2-1 win over Brighton, a club statement released on Thursday said two minors had been identified and suspended from attending any home or away fixtures. Additionally, their details have been shared with the Greater Manchester Police for investigation.

Once the police investigation is finished, the individuals will be subject to the club's official sanctions and bans process. Sunday saw City issue another statement, condemning the chants in the strongest terms and apologising unreservedly to the family and friends of Sir Bobby, and to all those at Manchester United.
