Sony to show off PS5 this fall, fond memories of Quake 2, how accessible is Baldur's Gate 3?
Are you looking forward to Gamescom? It's just around the corner and readers of the Wednesday letters page have expressed their frustration at the lack of DC Comics games in recent years. They're hoping for a surprise announcement at the event, perhaps even a Silent Hill 2!

It's understandable that readers feel disappointed by the lack of new DC Comics games. After all, Batman: Arkham Knight was the last one, and that was a decade ago! With the new Batman movies on the way, it looks like fans will have to wait another decade for any sort of reboot.

This brings us to the bigger question: what is Sony waiting for? We know there's a Ghost of Tsushima 2 in the works, so why hasn't it been announced yet? It's not like Sony has never made pre-rendered trailers for upcoming titles before, so why not do the same for this one? It's possible they were hoping to announce it during their summer showcase, but that didn't happen. So what made them think it was a good idea to keep gamers waiting?

Microsoft also has a part to play in the conversation. Games like Persona 6 would likely have a better reception on PlayStation, so why do they care if it's multiformat or not? Metal Gear Solid 3 was highly anticipated for Xbox 360, but it didn't really take off. It's clear that some games are more suited to certain consoles, and Nintendo's titles are no exception.

Then there's the debate about whether it's ever ok to give a game a 10/10. The answer is yes, it is! 10/10 doesn't necessarily mean perfection, it simply means that the game is outstanding in many areas. Every game is different, and the rating should reflect that.

In conclusion, it's clear that there are a lot of complex systems at work when it comes to gaming. With so many variables to consider, it's no wonder that some questions remain unanswered. We can only wait and see what the future holds!
When's the next one? It's been a while since DC Comics had any games released and it's a shame. Recently, one reader expressed their hope for a Silent Hill 2 game at Gamescom. If you'd like to participate in the discussion, shoot an email to email.

Autumnal Hops
It doesn't look like Gamescom will be all that exciting this year since Sony isn't even participating. That leads to the question on everyone's minds: will there be a new State of Play this autumn? A fellow reader proposed that there should be since Project Q and the PS5 Slim demand it. However, Sony's current situation makes it impossible to guarantee it.

The bigger question is why Sony is waiting. We know the Activision Blizzard buyout wasn't the reason, but why are they refusing to reveal their new single-player games? We already know there's going to be a Ghost of Tsushima 2, yet no one has been told about it. It would have been great to announce it a couple of years in advance, as Sony usually does. Why did they decide to keep us in the dark?

Missed Opportunity
It's almost unbelievable how Warner Bros. managed to mess up with their comic book games. They were doing so well with the Batman series, even if Arkham Knight was a bit of a let down, yet they stopped releasing games for a decade. What makes no sense is that they decided to go for Gotham Knights instead of any of the games they cancelled before. Now they probably have to reboot everything to match the new movies, so we'll have to wait another decade for something new.

Console Preference
I don't understand why Microsoft cares whether Persona 6 is multi-format or not because it's always sold far better on PlayStation. This was the case with Metal Gear Solid 3, which was hyped up for the Xbox 360 but sold very little in the end. I expect the same to happen with Persona 6.

Some games are better suited for certain consoles. People who complain that Nintendo should go multi-format don't seem to realize that their games wouldn't sell as much on other formats which they don't control. Breaking the status quo might sound like a good idea, but it's important to remember why things are the way they are.

Perfect Explanation
It's totally acceptable to give a game 10/10, but that doesn't imply perfection. That only applies to quantitative matters, where a perfect score is mathematically achievable. Games, however, are too interpretative to be given a perfect score. That's why some 10/10 games are held in different regards by different people.

The same can be said about 8/10 games. If you take away the potential for a game to be rated 10/10, then what's the point in rating it out of 10? Every mark would be pointless because the ceiling would always be open to interpretation.

Ongoing Journey
I'd like to thank Nick The Greek for enjoying my Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom photo features, and for playing Mario Kart 8 with me on the Wii U. I hope some other readers enjoyed my features too, and that GameCentral put them together nicely.

I'm still not done with the game, but I'm getting closer. I'm working through the last few shrines and lightroots. It's without doubt the best Zelda ever, and it deserves a 10/10.

Fair Compromise
I understand why DarKerR's letter on Tuesday was asking why Baldur's Gate 3's local co-op is a struggle for Larian Studios on Xbox Series S. It turns out the feature is there but disabled on Steam Deck, and can only be played unofficially through a workaround.

As for the minimum PC specs, I'm sure the performance isn't the same as the Xbox Series S's standards. That's why Larian said getting local co-op running on the console to an acceptable standard will take some optimisation and time.

I agree with the sentiment that we should embrace the positives of the budget console option, although it does come with certain compromises. For me, a lack of split screen feature would be an acceptable comprise for a budget option.

Complex Systems
I'm debating buying Baldur's Gate 3 when it comes out on the PlayStation 5. I did try Divinity: Original Sin 2, but I couldn't get into it after 10 hours because it felt unintuitive and obtuse.

Will Baldur's Gate 3 be any different? Is it more user friendly? I hope so because I don't want to miss out on what is probably an amazing game.
