Only Fools and Horses legend Sir David Jason is taking on a new TV role that's out of this world! He's joining The Repair Shop's Jay Blades to front Touring Toolsheds, a series which will bring a lesser-known side of Sir David to our screens.
Sir David and Jay will be travelling around the UK and helping members of the public and professional makers with their projects. The 83-year-old actor said: "It's great to be back on the nation's TV screens doing something totally different. I've played a lot of roles in my time but, to be myself, show off my creative passion and help the wonderful people we meet along the way resolve their mechanical masterpiece issues is very rewarding."
The Del Boy actor and The Repair Shop star have built up a great friendship since they began filming and Jay said: "Working with Sir David Jason, a fellow craft enthusiast is a dream come true. Filming is underway and it has been great to start helping the nations’ makers fix their passion projects. We've met brilliant people and this series is going to be a delight for the BBC Daytime and iPlayer audiences."
Sir David and Jay have been friends for a while, with the actor even paying a visit to Jay's The Repair Shop last year. They also showed off their friendship on a Strictly Come Dancing special, when Sir David made a surprise appearance during Jay's Only Fools and Horses performance. He said: "Hello Jay, it's your old mate Del Boy here. I understand you're doing a bit of prancing about up there at the BBC. Put it in an envelope at the BBC reception centre and I'll pick it up later."
Touring Toolshed will air on BBC Two and iPlayer in 2024. If you've got a celebrity story, video or pictures, you can get in touch with the The Agency entertainment team by emailing them, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting their Submit Stuff page.
