Ruben Amorim, the former Manchester United boss and current manager of AC Milan, has expressed interest in signing more players from his former club. He is particularly interested in Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, and Amad Diallo. After taking over at AC Milan last month, Amorim is looking to strengthen his squad and make a mark as the new manager.
Amorim's first managerial job since being sacked by Manchester United in January, Milan is a chance for him to redeem himself after a disappointing 14-month spell with the Red Devils. It was reported that Amorim was keen on bringing Ugarte to Milan, having worked with him at Sporting and even sanctioned his move to United. However, things have changed since then.
Ugarte suffered a serious injury while playing at the World Cup and will now be staying put at United. Amorim's interest has now shifted towards Mount and Diallo, but United has made it clear that they will not entertain any offers for these players during this summer's transfer window. But reports in Italy claim that Amorim is still looking to poach a player from his former club, this time it's Noussair Mazraoui.
The AC Milan manager has informed his bosses of his admiration for the defender, who has been a useful member of the United squad since his £17m move from Bayern Munich in 2024. Amorim has always spoken highly of Mazraoui, even before joining United. He praised the defender's attacking and defensive abilities, as well as his technical skills and comfort on the ball.
Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto has also confirmed that Mazraoui is one of Amorim's "favourites", but there have been no talks between the clubs at this time. During his AC Milan unveiling, Amorim also admitted to making mistakes during his previous reign at Manchester United. He stated that he has learned from his experience and is now looking to do better with Milan.
He also expressed regret for not being able to say goodbye to the United fans and is proud to have been their coach for a year. Amorim's focus now is on his new role at AC Milan, where he hopes to succeed and make up for his previous mistakes. He has also acknowledged that everyone learns from their experiences and he is determined to become a better manager.
Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season, while United climbed to third under new permanent boss Michael Carrick after a poor start. With Amorim at the helm, AC Milan will be looking to make a strong comeback and challenge for the top spot in the upcoming season. It remains to be seen if they will be able to secure Mazraoui's services, but one thing is for sure, Amorim will be doing everything in his power to bring success to the Italian club.
