Rep. Kelly is taking action to impeach Gov. Noem, claiming ICE has created a reign of terror.

In recent news, the United States is facing a potential scandal involving the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem. It's been reported that lawmakers have initiated an impeachment process against her for her involvement in ICE operations. This has sparked quite the controversy, as Democrat Robin Kelly introduced the articles of impeachment on January 14th. According to Kelly, Noem has created a "reign of terror" in various cities across the nation with ICE agents making arrests without proper warrants. "Secretary Noem has brought her reign of terror to Chicago, L.A., Minneapolis, and many other communities. Her actions warrant impeachment," stated Kelly in a statement addressing the introduction of the impeachment. The congresswoman has filed three articles against Noem, including Obstruction of Congress, Violation of Public Trust, and Self-Dealing. The first claim is based on Noem's refusal to allow Kelly access to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, despite having clearance. This has caused quite a stir, as Noem has been accused of directing federal agents into neighborhoods, resulting in violence and even death for U.S. citizens. In addition, Kelly and 70 other lawmakers have alleged that Noem unlawfully spent $200 million on an ICE recruitment ad campaign, leading to the final article of impeachment. Noem has previously dismissed the threats of impeachment from Democrats, but these lawmakers are determined to move forward with the process. Especially since the rollout of ICE agents continues to occur across America. "Secretary Noem has called my impeachment efforts silly, but I want to send a message to her - you have violated your oath of office and there will be consequences. We are watching you, and we are not pleased with what we see. If you think impeachment is a joke, then you are not taking your job or our Constitution seriously," stated Kelly. Notable congress members, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Rep. Ilhan Omar, have co-sponsored the impeachment charges. However, for the impeachment to proceed, it must first pass in the GOP-controlled House with a majority vote, making its approval unlikely. This news has raised questions about the legality of ICE operations and the involvement of Noem. In response, residents have started to band together to film and monitor ICE agents. Is this legal? The answer is unclear and remains a topic of debate. However, it's evident that the American people and their representatives are keeping a close eye on Noem's actions and will continue to seek accountability for any wrongdoing.
