Reader suggests Capcom should spend their resources on reviving Maximo: Ghosts To Glory.

Maximo: Ghosts To Glory is a game that often gets overlooked in the modern gaming landscape, but with Capcom bringing back older franchises, there is hope that Maximo will also make a comeback. Amidst all the negativity surrounding gaming lately, it's refreshing to see Capcom receive praise for releasing a string of quality games. From the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata to the upcoming Onimusha, they've been on a winning streak for years.

As a longtime fan of the publisher, I couldn't be more pleased with their recent success. One of the reasons why Capcom stands out is their willingness to take risks with new IPs and revive older franchises that may not be guaranteed hits. This is something that deserves recognition, especially with the success of Pragmata, which I personally bought and thoroughly enjoyed.

As their hot streak continues, it's exciting to think about the potential for even more obscure games to be brought back. While many fans are clamoring for a Dino Crisis remake or new game, I have a different request: Maximo. Now, don't get me wrong, I would love to see a new Dino Crisis game, but what about Maximo?

This PlayStation 2 spin-off from Ghosts 'N Goblins was released in 2001 and features the same music and enemies, but with a twist. In this game, you play as a Roman soldier instead of King Arthur. It's a 3D platformer with a healthy dose of combat, and in my opinion, it was a well-executed game.

However, it seems to have been quickly forgotten by many. It's a shame because it had great action, charming graphics, and a well-functioning camera for a PS2 game. Unfortunately, there was only one sequel, also on PS2, and then the series disappeared.

I've never heard anyone talk about it since, and I believe the reason for this is because it was incredibly difficult. I love the game, but it was unnecessarily hard, and I couldn't understand why. In later years, I learned about the difficulty of the original Ghosts 'N Goblins games, and it seems that the trend has continued with recent titles like Ghosts 'N Goblins Resurrection.

But why? Back in the day, all games were challenging, but franchises like Mario adapted with the times to keep players engaged. The difficulty was always my biggest issue with Maximo, and I don't understand why they continue to make games so punishing.

Is anyone really going to complain if they toned down the difficulty or added a hard mode? It's a cartoonish platformer about a guy in his underwear, yet it makes Dark Souls look like a walk in the park. So, my hope is that Capcom will bring back Maximo, but perhaps with a more manageable level of difficulty.

It may not be a likely scenario, but it's not impossible, as Capcom has attempted to revive Ghosts 'N Goblins before, just not in the way that I would prefer. A simple remaster would be a great start, and I believe there is an audience for it. As a long-time fan of the series, I hope that one day we'll see Maximo return and receive the recognition it deserves.

Who knows, maybe with enough support, Capcom will take notice and make it happen. In the meantime, I'll keep my fingers crossed and continue to enjoy their other great games.
