After the recent conclusion of the BBC's investigation into Giovanni Pernice, Ranvir Singh has opened up about her thoughts and feelings on the matter. As someone who has worked closely with Pernice on the 2020 series, the 47-year-old shared her rare comments on the situation. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, she was asked by Susanna Reid for her thoughts on the outcome.
"I was really pleased to see that the BBC investigation had finally come to a close," Ranvir began. "It had been going on for quite some time and I was glad to see that it ended with an apology to Amanda Abbington. That was a positive development in my opinion."
She went on to express her belief that the new welfare measures put in place as a result of the investigation can only be a good thing for the show. "Ultimately, Strictly is about having a good time and everyone should feel comfortable and safe while doing so," she added.
Ranvir also encouraged viewers to join Metro's Strictly community on WhatsApp to stay up to date with all the latest news and rumors from the dancefloor. She emphasized the importance of keeping the fun and joy in the show for both the participants and the audience at home.
Speaking from personal experience, Ranvir shared that being a part of Strictly was a truly entertaining and joyful experience. She and Pernice were paired together during the 2020 season and she expressed her gratitude for being a part of such a wonderful show.
The investigation into Pernice's behavior towards his former dance partner, Amanda Abbington, was launched earlier this year. On Monday, September 30th, the BBC issued an apology to Abbington and upheld some of her complaints against Pernice. While the most serious allegations were cleared, there were findings of verbal bullying and harassment. However, there were no findings of physical aggression.
Pernice, who is not a part of this year's Strictly professional dancing line-up and has since joined an Italian dance show, has denied any claims of threatening or abusive behavior. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
