Rajnath Singh honors soldiers killed in J&K gunfight.
On a somber Sunday in Srinagar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a moment to pay his respects to two brave Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives while fighting terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. In a heartfelt post on his social media, Singh expressed deep sorrow at the loss and extended his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. He also assured them that the entire nation stands with them during this difficult time.

Earlier, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. In a statement, the Army stated that General Dwivedi and all ranks of the Indian Army are saluting the supreme sacrifice made by Hav Dipak Kumar Yadav and L/Nk Praveen Sharma, who laid down their lives while serving their duty in Anantnag district.

Sadly, one of the two civilians who were injured during the encounter between security forces and terrorists on Saturday also passed away from critical injuries on Sunday. The incident took place in the Ahlan Gandole area of Kokernag, a popular tourist spot in Anantnag district. Along with the civilians, three other soldiers were also injured in the firing.

According to the Army, investigations are currently underway to establish the terror links of the injured civilians. Meanwhile, a massive search operation is being conducted in the area to locate the terrorists responsible for this heinous act.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, the Army revealed that the terrorists responsible for recent atrocities and incidents in the Doda region had infiltrated the Kapran Garol area in South Kashmir through the Kishtwar range. After relentless efforts by the Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police, precise operations were launched on the night of August 9 and 10 in the mountains east of Kapran, where the terrorists were reportedly hiding.

At around 2 pm on August 10, suspicious movement was detected in the area and upon being challenged, the terrorists responded with indiscriminate and reckless firing. This resulted in the injuries of two Army personnel and two civilians in the vicinity. The Army is currently trying to determine the terror links of the injured civilians.

The operation to hunt down the terrorists is being carried out in a challenging terrain with an altitude of over 10,000 feet. The area is covered with dense undergrowth, large boulders, and nallahs, posing a serious challenge for the security forces. However, they are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the citizens.
