Get ready book lovers, because this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival is going to be one for the books! The festival's new director, Jenny Niven, has revealed her exciting plans for a revamped literary event, complete with a series of 1000-capacity interviews at the stunning McEwan Hall in Edinburgh University. And it's all thanks to a new partnership with Underbelly, the producer of the famous Edinburgh Fringe.

We can't wait to welcome some big names to the stage, including Booker Prize-winner Salman Rushdie, who will be joining us live from his home in New York. It's been two years since the horrific knife attack that nearly took his life, and he'll be discussing his new memoir that reflects on his journey to recovery. Also making an appearance are the hilarious duo Alan Cumming and Forbes Masson, who will be launching their new book filled with comedic tales from their classic characters, Victor and Barry's Kelvinside Compendium.

But that's not all! We're also excited to welcome radio host James O'Brien, fresh from his popular show on LBC, to discuss his book "How They Broke Britain" and the current state of the UK. And for all the fans of Netflix's hit series "Heartstopper," we have the author Alice Oseman joining us to talk about her popular book series turned TV show. And of course, we can't forget about Dolly Alderton, the ultimate millennial best friend, who will be discussing her work, including her latest novel "Good Material."

But that's just the beginning! We have an incredible lineup of over 500 events still to be announced, with a variety of topics ranging from history and mystery to hope and romance, and everything in between. Plus, we have some amazing interviewers lined up, including Mishal Husain and the talented Jackie Kay.

We're thrilled to be hosting this stellar lineup in a new venue, the Edinburgh Futures Institute on Lauriston Place, which will allow us to welcome more people than ever before. The festival will run from August 10-25, and we can't wait to see you there!

Now, let's take a look at some of the events on our Front List for this year's festival.
