However, she failed to notice one of the teenagers riding his bike towards her. As she opened her door, the teen was knocked off his bike by her car.
This incident caused quite a stir, especially when it was witnessed by Betsy Swain, who then used it to blackmail Carla. Eventually, the truth was revealed when Betsy let it slip during an argument with her mother, DS Lisa Swain. Lisa was upset about Carla spending too much time with her daughter.
