Police have launched an international manhunt for Urfan Sharif, 41, Beinash Batool, 29, and Faisal Shahzad Malik, 28, in connection with the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif. In an effort to track down the trio, police have arrested an uncle of Sara, Imran Sharif, suspecting he knows where the family is hiding.
Sara was found dead at her family home in Woking, Surrey, on August 10, a day after her father, stepmother and uncle fled to Pakistan with five children. Police sources expressed disbelief at the claims being made by Imran and his family members, revealing that the family home in Jhelum is now empty and a shop they run has been locked up. They added that Imran is currently being questioned by police in Jhelum and officers from Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency.
Imran told the media that Urfan had visited the family home after arriving in Pakistan on August 9, but had disappeared since. He said police had raided their home twice and taken pictures of Urfan and other family members. He added that they had been warned to inform police immediately if they had any knowledge of Urfan’s whereabouts.
Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, has urged her ex-husband to “come forward and explain himself”. Olga, who lives in Somerset, praised British police for doing a good job in trying to track him down and described her daughter as “an amazing child”. She hopes to bury her child back in her native Poland.
