Police desperately seeking fugitive murderer Gary Anderson who is still on the loose.

Gary Anderson, a convicted murderer, has been missing for four days. The police are asking for the public's help in finding him after he failed to return to prison on Monday. They are working together with Garda to locate Anderson, who escaped while attending his father's funeral and cremation.

There have been extensive efforts to find Anderson, with officers patrolling and searching through CCTV footage. However, he has not been located yet. The public has been advised not to approach him, as he is considered dangerous.

Detective Inspector Gareth Lavery has made a direct appeal to Anderson to turn himself in, and has asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police immediately. They are also interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen Anderson in the Eastway area on Monday. Anderson, along with his brother Sean, was sentenced to prison in 2023 for the murder of Karol Kelly in Londonderry.

Kelly died after being stabbed multiple times during a fight in 2018. Although prison authorities initially denied Anderson's request for temporary release to attend his father's funeral, it was later approved. The Kelly family has voiced their distress and frustration over the situation, and politician Mark H Durkan has met with them to address their concerns.

He has also called for further investigation into the systemic issues that led to Anderson's escape. Kelly's brother, Paul, has shared on social media that their family will work to ensure that this does not happen to anyone else in the future. Anyone with information on Anderson's whereabouts is urged to contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
