Police arrested 2 owners of Vihar Canteen at IIT Powai for scamming an elderly catering professional.
The Powai police have made a significant breakthrough in an online fraud case, arresting two of the three accused in the case. Ravindra Rameshwar Kotian and Sanjeev Dadu Pujari, proprietors of Vihar Canteen located within IIT Powai, were taken into custody following allegations of defrauding a senior catering professional.

The complainant, a 70-year-old catering business owner, has accused the two men of luring him with a promise of 50 percent partnership in the canteen business and subsequently misappropriating approximately ₹91 lakhs that he had invested in the canteen. Narayan Pujari, the third partner in the canteen business, is also affiliated with the case.

The complainant first encountered Ravindra and Sanjeev four years ago, when they expressed their desire to retire as partners in the canteen business. In order to take their place, the two men convinced him to invest a minimum of one crore rupees with the promise of a substantial profit share.

Lured by the promise, the complainant transferred a total of ₹91.25 lakhs between May 2019 and January 2023 in cash and through various transactions. However, the accused attempted to deceive him by providing a fixed sum for several months and refusing to replace Narayan Pujari upon retirement, despite claiming otherwise.

Realizing he had been duped, the complainant filed a complaint with the Powai police against Ravindra Kotian, Sanjeev Pujari, and Narayan Pujari. All three accused parties subsequently fled, although the authorities managed to apprehend Ravindra and Sanjeev four months later. The case is still ongoing, with the police continuing their efforts to apprehend the third accused.
