Nicola Mitchell, the newest resident of Walford, is in for a bumpy ride next week. After successfully beating her ex-husband Teddy Mitchell to become the new owner of Peggy's nightclub, she is now struggling with buyer's remorse. At first, she was ecstatic to have outsmarted her ex and finally put down roots in Albert Square. However, her excitement quickly fades when she realizes the true state of the club.
It all comes to light when she learns about the tragic crowd crush that occurred earlier in the summer, caused by none other than Chelsea Fox. In a desperate attempt to sabotage the new manager, Penny Branning, for stealing her job, Chelsea had tampered with the club's online booking system. As a result, many Walford residents were seriously injured and the club's reputation was tarnished.
When Teddy discovers that Nicola is the new owner, he warns her that it will only end in tears and that he won't be there to pick up the pieces. And just when Nicola thought things couldn't get any worse, Phil Mitchell, the previous owner, drops a bombshell on her. Not only are there no staff to run the club, but the crush has also ruined its reputation.
Feeling overwhelmed and regretful, Nicola is at a loss for what to do.
