Abbey Clancy is getting a second chance at love in a new Paddy Power ad, where she is married to none other than Barry from EastEnders! In the hilarious ad, Abbey is shown a flashback of the moment 20 years ago when she first encountered professional footballer Peter Crouch, who was introduced to her by Shaun Williamson.
In the alternate timeline, Abbey rejects Peter, branding him 'a bit long'. We then return to the present to find Abbey no longer sat on the sofa with Peter, but instead snuggling up to EastEnders' Shaun, who can't help but give a cheeky smile to the camera.
Discussing the advert, Peter said: ‘Seeing Abbey snuggled up with Barry [Shaun] was one of the strangest experiences of my life. I was standing there thinking to myself, you know, what if this actually did happen?!’ Shaun, meanwhile, added: ‘I loved working with Peter and Abbey. They’re such down to earth, lovely people. If I got another chance to do that again, I’d be happy!’
The character of Barry in EastEnders is portrayed by Jamie Borthwick, who first appeared in the soap between 1994 and 2004.
