Today marks the 41st foundation day of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). To commemorate this special occasion, the PCMC headquarters was lit up in a beautiful display of lights. The PCMC family expressed their dedication to serving the citizens of Pimpri & Chinchwad by taking to social media with the hashtag #41YearsOfPCMC.

A number of events were organised to celebrate this momentous day. The day began with PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh paying his respects to the late Annasaheb Magar by offering floral tributes in the main administrative building premises. The corporation also arranged a blood donation camp to contribute to a noble cause.

To add a touch of camaraderie and fun to the occasion, PCMC staff took part in exciting activities such as musical chairs and tug of war. A special event, titled "New Home Minister," was held exclusively for female employees. The highlight of the event was the Paithani saree prize, which was presented to recognize and honour the significant contributions of women within the Municipal Corporation.

In an effort to showcase the creativity and culture of India, PCMC also organised a rangoli competition, a cooking contest, and a fancy dress competition. Contestants decorated their creations around the themes of ‘Majhi Mati Maja Desh’ and ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’.

The day ended with Commissioner Shekhar Singh presenting awards to the winners of the various competitions and praising the PCMC officials for their hard work and dedication. PCMC also received support from Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, who expressed his gratitude to all those who have contributed to the 41 years of progress of the PCMC. He extended his heartiest wishes to the citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad on this momentous day.

The PCMC was formed in 1982, after the state government decided to merge four gram panchayats of Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari and Akurdi to form the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Council. The inaugural civic general elections were held in 1986, during which Landge was elected as the first mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Today marks a significant milestone in the history of the PCMC, and it is sure to bring cheer to the citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
