Patwaris in Madhya Pradesh agitate, submit memo; receive support from Congress.
Yesterday, the Patwari Association of Ganj Basoda submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate urging the Government to fulfill their demands for their pay-scale and other things. The memorandum was addressed to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In response, Patwaris across the state are on strike and holding a sit-in protest at Lal Parade Ground in the city.

The Patwari Association revealed that there are 19,000 Patwaris in the state and they are still receiving the same pay scale fixed in 1998. On the other hand, the pay-scale of the employees of land records department, revenue inspectors, Nayab Tehsilder, and assistant superintendent of land records has been increased multiple times over the past 25 years. Furthermore, Tehsilders, Nayab Tehsilders and revenue inspectors have been promoted to the deputy collector, Tehsilder and Nayab Tehsilder respectively.

Despite this, the Patwaris, known as the backbone of the administration, have been deprived of promotion. This has resulted in many Congress leaders reaching the Lal Parade Ground and raising slogans in support of the Patwari association's demands.

Unfortunately, in Madhya Pradesh, Guna Sub-jail inmate died of cardiac arrest yesterday. The officials of the jail stated that the deceased was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhopal.
