Odisha signs four agreements at Singapore’s Asia Clean Energy Summit

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Energy Department signed four MoUs at the Asia Clean Energy Summit in Singapore to boost international research cooperation in renewable energy and new clean energy technologies, officials said on Thursday. The agreements, made with leading global technology and energy firms, along with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, as the knowledge partner, will support research in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, battery energy storage, smart grids and green hydrogen, they said. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo praised the initiative, noting the importance of international partnerships in speeding up the state’s clean energy transition.

“Odisha is committed to building a future-ready and sustainable energy sector through innovation, research and global collaboration. These MoUs will strengthen our partnerships with leading international institutions and technology companies, enabling us to explore advanced solutions in energy storage, artificial intelligence, smart grids and green hydrogen,” said Singh Deo, who oversees the Energy Department. He said such collaborations would help Odisha achieve its renewable energy goals, improve energy security and strengthen the state’s position as a major destination for clean energy investment and innovation.

The latest agreements build on a research partnership launched in January 2023, when the Energy Department signed an MoU with NTU, Singapore, and IIT Bhubaneswar to promote research in renewable energy technologies, according to a statement. The new MoUs broaden the scope of that collaboration by involving global industry expertise in joint research and technology development, with a focus on emerging technologies and their practical use in the energy sector, the statement added.
