The city of Bhubaneswar was filled with joy and devotion as the Ganesh puja was celebrated on Saturday in Odisha. The entire state was bustling with excitement as revellers made their way to different pandals, filled with vigour and enthusiasm. The occasion was marked by the beautiful decorations in various educational institutions, adding to the festive spirit.
The streets of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were adorned with around 50 brightly lit puja marquees, creating a delightful atmosphere. The festivities were not limited to these cities, as the Ganesh puja was celebrated with great fervour in Jatani, Berhampur, Talcher, and many other places across the state. The occasion was graced by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, who visited community pujas to convey his best wishes to the people.
As he made his way to the community pujas, Naveen Patnaik was warmly greeted by the people. The Ganesh puja is traditionally held on the fourth day of the Sukla Pakshya in the Odia month of Bhadraba, where Lord Ganesh is worshipped as 'Bigha Nasak' and blessings are sought for prosperity. In Cuttack, idols made of eco-friendly materials were used and would be immersed after a procession on September 17.
The police commissionerate has taken necessary measures to ensure that the immersion procession is free from noise and liquor consumption, as per the guidelines. They have also urged the puja committees to install CCTV cameras in and around the marquees and deploy volunteers to maintain the safety and security of the people. The Ganesh puja has always been a significant event in the state of Odisha, and this year's celebrations were no different, with the people coming together to celebrate with joy and devotion.
