Indore has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past three days, with over 87mm recorded in just 24 hours and over 100mm in the central part of the city. This has resulted in a total of 137.8mm of rain in the city in the last three days and over 30 inches in total.
The regional meteorological department has said that the wet conditions in the city are expected to continue on Sunday. Intermittent rain with various intensities started on Friday morning and continued until Saturday morning.
Senior scientist of India meteorological department Dr Ved Pralash Singh said that a cyclonic circulation is present over central parts of North Madhya Pradesh and is extending up to middle tropospheric levels. A trough is running from cyclonic circulation over central parts of North Madhya Pradesh to South Madhya Maharashtra in lower and middle tropospheric levels. Additionally, the western end of the monsoon trough is active and lies south of its normal position.
Dr Ved Pralash Singh also said that a fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 12, which will bring more rain to the eastern part of the state while the intensity will decrease in the western part.
The maximum temperature recorded in the city was 27 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 22.4 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was 97% in the morning but increased to 98% in the evening.
Apart from the rain, today is a special day for over 4.5 lakh Ladli Behna beneficiaries in Indore, as they are set to receive ₹1,000 each. These funds are intended to help them cover the costs of their education and other necessities.
