Navi Mumbai: Mindspace Business Parks REIT has created a one-of-a-kind Bio-Sonification Zone at its Business Park at Mindspace, Airoli in Navi Mumbai. This Zone provides employees at the Business Park with a tranquil escape during their midday work breaks. Through a bio-sonification technique, sounds of 15 different species of plants have been converted into relaxing soundscapes.
The technology used to create this Zone measures changes in the conductivity of a plant, graphs it as a wave, and translates it into a pitch. By routing these pitches into different sound sets, people can experience the activities of plants in the form of music. Each sound set is unique, some are calming, some invigorating, and some allow for a raw expression of sound.
The music generated from the plants is then turned into QR codes, which are displayed on the plants for people to scan and listen to. Since its unveiling, over 2500 scans on the QR codes have been recorded. It has also been observed that people who listened to the music had lower blood pressure levels.
