McCartney remembers Parkinson's influence on album cover in heartfelt tribute.
I had the honor of meeting Sir Michael Parkinson on a few occasions. The first was when he and his team came to see us at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. He was an affable and knowledgeable man and we had a lot of fun. We were later invited to perform on his show with Granada in Manchester.

I continued to meet with Sir Michael over the years and appeared on his chat show several times. He was an incredibly well-read person and a passionate sports fan. He even made an appearance on the front cover of my 1973 album, Band on the Run.

I will miss him as a great friend and I would like to express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Cheers Michael, you were a remarkable man.

Others have paid tribute to the legendary talk show host since his passing on Thursday, August 17. Sir David Attenborough shared some of his fondest memories of the late Sir Michael on BBC Radio 4’s World At One. He recalled how he was always generous with his interviewees and how he made it a point to make everyone shine.

It is clear that Sir Michael left a lasting impression on those he encountered throughout his life. We can take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through his interviews and the people whose lives he touched.
