(Image Source: https://metro.co.uk) Reflecting on the highs and lows of the past few weeks, Mark Andrews remarked: ‘It’s funny, I’ve talked about it only briefly but I don’t think anyone fully understands how hectic of a time that time of my life was.’ With his partner pregnant, the couple moving house, and his wedding date set for September 1, he was also informed that WWE was planning a show in Wales two days later. He admitted: ‘So, all of 2022 felt relatively tense leading up to that point.’ When he was released from the company, he was disappointed to miss out on the opportunity to appear on the biggest show in the history of Wales for wrestling. He said: ‘[Clash At The Castle] would've trumped any WrestleMania, because it was in Wales. I feel very passionate about being one of few wrestlers from Wales that made it to WWE.’

For Mark Andrews, 2022 was a true rollercoaster experience. In only a few weeks, the 31-year-old Welsh wrestler learned that his partner was expecting, was let go by WWE alongside some of his British colleagues after the launch of NXT Europe, got married, and missed out on an amazing evening at Clash At The Castle in Cardiff.
Discussing the highs and lows, he exclusively told The Agency: “It's funny, I've spoken about it only briefly but I'm not sure anyone truly understands how hectic that period of my life was.”
In 2021, Mark and his now-wife - who recently welcomed a baby girl into the world - had already picked a wedding venue and date for September 1, only to then hear of WWE's plan for a huge show in Wales, which became the event at Principality Stadium on September 3.
“Of course, the largest wrestling show in Wales' history happens two days after the most significant day of my life,” he laughed, recalling similar experiences from his days as the frontman of his pop-punk band, Junior.
“So, the entire year of 2022 felt quite tense leading up to that point,” he admitted, while also revealing that they were in the process of moving home and that he had found out she was pregnant on the day he returned from his stag do.

“We moved house, it was two weeks before our wedding, my wife was pregnant at the time and then I got the call from the office saying, “You're no longer going to be with WWE, we're releasing you.” It was wild for me to hear because, of course, I had been working with the BBC a lot during that time with my Love Letter To Wrestling podcast, and I knew there were lots of plans to do some cool things around the event. Additionally, I had caught wind and heard rumours from various people backstage that there was a strong possibility of having someone from Wales on the show.”
Apart from Mark, the only other Welsh wrestlers on the roster at the time were his NXT UK comrades Wild Boar, Flash Morgan Webster and Eddie Dennis, who were all let go when WWE declared their intention to close their UK brand before relaunching it as NXT Europe this year.

“[Clash At The Castle] would have surpassed any WrestleMania, since it was in Wales. I'm really passionate about being one of the few wrestlers from Wales that made it to WWE,” he stated, noting that he had already ordered custom gear for the event which then had to be cancelled.
