Manager created fake employee, stole their wages.
On July 14, the Manheim Township Police Department charged a former Wendy's general manager with theft by deception. Linda Johnson, a 35-year-old from Monroe, Louisiana, allegedly created a fake employee and pocketed their wages.

The scheme was discovered at the restaurant Johnson managed, located at 1117 Harrisburg Pike in Manheim Township, Pennsylvania. The owners contacted the police to report the suspected fraud and an audit uncovered the discrepancy of $19,898 between June 2021 and May of last year.

When contacted by police on April 19, 2023, Johnson reportedly admitted to creating the fake employee, William Bright, and setting up the paychecks to be directly deposited into her CashApp account. She said she used the money to take care of her kids.

A warrant was issued for Johnson's arrest and Wendy's insurer paid out around $16,000 for the fraud incident. Johnson was officially charged with one count of theft by deception on July 7 and a criminal case was filed shortly afterwards.

The Manheim Township Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding any additional information about Johnson and her crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the department at 717-569-6401 or submit a tip anonymously on their website.
