According to reports from Italy, it seems that Joshua Zirkzee may be making a move to Italian giants Juventus. The Manchester United player's potential loan transfer has been given the green light by his current club, as they have approved the move to the Serie A side. Zirkzee joined United in 2024 for a hefty fee of £36.5 million during Erik ten Hag's reign as manager.
However, the Netherlands international has only managed to find the back of the net nine times in his 75 appearances over the past two seasons. Juventus have been in discussions with United over a deal for Zirkzee for some time now, but they have yet to come to an agreement. But it seems that things may be changing, as Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that a breakthrough has been made.
United has given their approval for a loan deal with Juventus for the upcoming season. The report also mentions that the loan deal is dependent on a purchase option being included in the agreement. Juventus' top brass is feeling optimistic that they will be able to reach an agreement with United on this matter.
However, United would prefer to make the sale of the 25-year-old permanent next year, rather than a loan with an option to buy. Juventus is currently in Perth for their pre-season tour, while Zirkzee has been included in United's squad for their friendly against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday. In an interview before their match against Inter, Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti stated that he does not necessarily need a prolific goal scorer on his team.
He went on to say that it's not crucial to have just one striker who can score 20 goals in a season. Spalletti is confident that they have players who can surpass that mark and contribute to the team's success. With matches on both Sundays and Thursdays, having multiple players who can score goals is beneficial for rotation purposes.
Spalletti also mentioned Jeff Ekhator as a player who can fill in the penalty area and that the team is in a good position. What do you think of this potential transfer? Do you think Zirkzee will thrive at Juventus?
