Man in Melbourne hit by his own vehicle in a violent hit-and-run incident.
A frantic search is underway for a man who committed a bold and dangerous act in the bustling streets of Melbourne's CBD. It all began when the culprit brazenly stole a car from a laneway and proceeded to run over the vehicle's rightful owner. The victim, who bravely clung onto the bonnet of his red four-wheel drive, suffered serious injuries in his attempt to stop the thief.

Security footage captured the whole ordeal, revealing a man wearing a blue hoodie riding an e-scooter as he approached the car parked on Hardware Lane. He then casually placed his scooter in the back seat before jumping into the driver's seat. Without hesitation, the thief tried to make a quick getaway, but the owner stood in front of the vehicle, determined to put an end to the madness. Bystanders rushed to help, but the thief persisted, driving down the street and even over a speed bump with the owner still holding on for dear life.

The footage shows the owner eventually being run over as the car speeds away. One witness described the victim as being in a "bad condition" as a few people rushed to offer first aid. Another witness, Rus, recounted the shocking scene, saying, "We basically ran out and I saw how the guy was rolling under the wheels. It was quite an absurd thing to see in broad daylight."

The wounded owner was immediately taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. According to Senior Constable Mark Hall, the victim is lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries. "Our victim has then been dragged 15 to 20 metres at the front of the car then subsequently run over," Hall explained. "He's very shaken up, with external injuries like abrasions to his body, but thankfully, no internal injuries."

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. The search for the culprit continues as the community hopes for a swift resolution to this shocking and brazen crime.
