After a long period of confinement, Joel Marshall, the troubled and violent teenager from EastEnders, is finally set to be released. However, his presence continues to loom darkly over the residents of Walford. And unfortunately, things are about to take a turn for the worse when news about his release reaches the Square.
Earlier this year, Joel was sentenced to prison for brutally attacking his stepmother, Vicki Fowler, in their family kitchen. This was just one in a series of disturbing incidents involving Joel, including sexually assaulting a passenger on the tube and secretly recording himself and his girlfriend, Avani Nandra-Hart, during sex without her consent. Avani was devastated when she discovered she had been a victim of Joel's crimes.
She found the courage to testify against him during his trial for Vicki's assault. But now, with Joel's release imminent, Avani's mother, Priya Nandra-Hart, is understandably shaken by the news. She tries to reassure her daughter that Joel will not be returning to the Square.
The issue of Joel's living situation had caused tension between Vicki and her partner, Ross Marshall, before their recent wedding. Ross had promised Vicki that he would not allow Joel to move back in with them after his release. However, it was confirmed that actor Max Murray, who plays Joel, would be returning to the show in May.
As Joel's return to Walford draws closer, the question remains: what will this mean for Avani, Vicki, and Ross? With Vicki still traumatized by her attack, how will Ross balance his loyalty to his son with his commitment to his wife? These are all questions that will be answered in the upcoming episodes.
