Devastating news has come to light as a man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a pregnant mum-of-two, Frankie Julia Hough, by dangerous driving. The crash took place on the M66 motorway in Bury on the 13th of May.
Frankie was critically injured in the accident, along with her son Thomas (aged nine) and nephew Tobias (aged four). The 38-year-old had stopped on the hard-shoulder to take a phone call at around 3.10pm when the collision occurred. At the time of the incident, she was 18 weeks pregnant and expecting a daughter.
At the Crown Court in Manchester Minshull Street, Adil Iqbal was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The 22-year-old from Accrington, Lancashire, admitted to causing the death of Ms Hough and to causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to her son. Judge Maurice Greene remanded him into custody to await sentencing on July 19.
The tragic incident has left an indelible mark on the family and friends of Frankie who have been left with unimaginable grief. Her friend Debbie Wright penned a GoFundMe appeal for the family and raised more than £50,000 to help them get through the traumatic experience.
Fortunately, little Thomas and Tobias have left the hospital, where they were in critical care, but still require ongoing physiotherapy. The family mourn the loss of their beloved Frankie and the daughter they never got to meet. As Debbie wrote in the GoFundMe appeal, “Heaven has gained a true angel.”
