On Tuesday, the Delhi Police arrested 28-year-old Rohit Kumar, a resident of Pandav Nagar, for sending obscene messages to random girls. The arrest was made based on the complaint of a woman living in Karkardooma. The woman said that she received obscene messages on her WhatsApp from odd hours and was pressured to share private images.
The police analysed the Call Detail Records and found that the accused was in India when he committed the crime. Afterward, he had travelled to Croatia. Following the technical surveillance, the police traced the accused to Pandav Nagar. He was arrested during the raid and the mobile phone used in the crime was recovered from his possession.
The investigations also revealed that Rohit had been sending obscene messages to random girls. When any of the girls replied to his messages, he would pressure them to engage in obscene acts over the phone. In addition to this, the passport of the accused was seized by the police.
This is not the first time such a crime has been committed in India. Recently, a PAC constable was held in Agra for allegedly raping a woman, filming an obscene video of her and then threatening her with it. Such incidents have become increasingly common in India over the past few years and it is important for the authorities to take strict action against these perpetrators.
