Man arrested for kidnapping, raping, and waterboarding girlfriend in her dorm room.
On Sunday, September 10, 19-year-old Keanu Labatte was arrested for criminal sexual misconduct in St Paul, Minnesota. He was apprehended after his girlfriend, whose identity has not been made public, was able to escape from three days of captivity in her college dorm room and seek help from campus security.

The criminal complaint revealed that Labatte had initially planned to spend a romantic weekend with his girlfriend at St Catherine University, an all-female college. However, upon discovering text messages, pictures, and social media information, Labatte became infuriated.

Labatte held his girlfriend hostage in her dorm room and proceeded to torture her from Thursday, September 7 until Sunday. According to the complaint, he punched her in the face and stomach, strangled her until she could no longer breathe, and threatened her with a knife. He even resorted to waterboarding her, filling a bucket, forcing her to lay in the bathtub, and pouring water over her face while covering it with a washcloth.

The victim was eventually able to escape and run to campus security. Upon Labatte’s arrest in his girlfriend’s dorm room, police found a folding knife in his backpack. He simply responded with “I plead the 5th.”

Labatte is currently facing three counts of criminal sexual misconduct, one count of domestic violence by strangulation, and one count of making threats of violence. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison for each misconduct charge.
