This morning, a school bus filled with students had to be evacuated due to a fire on the NSW South Coast. Fortunately, multiple firefighters quickly responded to the incident on Collins Street in Kiama at 8:30am. They worked tirelessly to put out the flames and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Thankfully, all of the passengers and the driver were able to escape without any injuries. The authorities made arrangements for alternative transportation so that the students could continue on with their day. It's always a relief when everyone makes it out of a situation like this unharmed.
Onlookers at the scene were able to capture photos and videos of the fire and smoke as it billowed from the bus. It was quite a sight to see in the heart of the beloved tourist town. Hazmat crews were also called in to handle the 200 litres of diesel on board the bus. And, to prevent any pollution to Black Beach, environmental crews were brought in to manage the storm water run-off.
As of now, the cause of the fire is still being investigated. We can only hope that it was just a random and unfortunate event with no malicious intent.
