John Stamos has recently come forward with a stomach-turning account of his alleged abuse as a child. In a new interview, the 60-year-old actor and star of the television show Full House, claims he was sexually abused by his babysitter when he was 10 or 11 years old.
Stamos revealed the memories of the alleged assaults only hit him when he was writing his upcoming memoir If You Would Have Told Me. He told People in the interview, “I remembered it slightly. It has always been there, but I packed it away as people do, right?” He went on to describe the experience as “like playing dead so they’ll stop. But it wasn’t totally aggressive. I don’t know. It was not good.”
Stamos went on to explain that while he has written about his memories of being abused in his book, it only takes up “a page or something” as he “didn’t want the book to be about it”. He also wanted to focus on more than just his split from his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn. They finalised their divorce in 2005 and Stamos has since moved on with Caitlin McHugh.
Romijn has since opened up about her divorce from Stamos, admitting that it was a “failure” and that she “has a lot of really fun memories”.
