Bell, a seasoned professional, will be overseeing the athletics department during this time.

The university stated that the review was initiated after receiving concerns from six head coaches, which prompted a closer look into the department's leadership, communication, and operations. With over 30 years of experience at Tennessee State, Bell is no stranger to the institution. Currently serving as the executive senior associate athletic director for student-athlete services and as a senior woman administrator, she has led various initiatives in compliance, academic support, and student-athlete services.

Throughout her time in the athletics department, Bell has held several senior leadership positions, showcasing her dedication and expertise. Bell's journey at Tennessee State began in 1991 when she joined as an assistant women's basketball coach under former head coach and athletics director Teresa Phillips. After spending 11 years on the coaching staff, she transitioned to athletics administration, where she has continued to hold leadership roles for over two decades.

This extensive experience and familiarity with the athletics program have positioned Bell to lead the department during this transition period while the review takes place. Allen, who has been the athletic director at Tennessee State since 2020, was placed on administrative leave on July 23.
