Have you been keeping up with The Masked Singer? I have to admit, I've been completely hooked! The show has already captivated its audience with its 12 mysterious celebrity contestants. We've already seen Spag Bol and Pegasus unmasked, revealing an ITV presenter and a beloved icon from The Great British Bake Off. But there are still 10 more identities waiting to be revealed.
All contestants have now taken the stage and showcased their singing talents. We were introduced to Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Snail, Tattoo, Teeth, Pufferfish, Bush, Bear, Toad in the Hole, and Wolf. Now, it's up to the judging panel – Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross, and Maya Jama – to try and figure out who is behind these outlandish costumes. And let's not forget about Sunday's guest panelist, Vicky McClure from Line of Duty. Of course, the audience at home is also doing some expert sofa sleuthing.
Let's take a closer look at Wolf. We know that he sang a David Bowie classic with a lot of swagger. But who could be hiding behind that mask? Well, there are a few clues that might help us narrow it down. In his VT, we see a model boat building set and a T-shirt that reads "wolfpack." Does this mean he's been a member of a band? And what about the riddle he gave us – "As a wolf, I've held dominion over everything I see, wild woods, creek or cave, that's my territory." Could this be a hint at his profession or expertise?
We also see a cameraman wearing a mitre, which is usually worn by bishops. Does this mean that Wolf has a connection to the church? And let's not forget the set of multi-coloured skittles that were shown briefly during his performance. But one thing is for sure, his rendition of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" was nothing short of impressive.
So who could Wolf be? Well, some of the judges have made their guesses. Maya was initially taken by Wolf's attitude and confidence, but she ultimately decided against him having a musical background. She instead guessed that it could be TV's Phil Spencer from Location, Location, Location, due to the numerous references he made to foundations and houses.
Davina, on the other hand, is confident in her guess of Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran. She believes that his marriage to a model and his famous hit "Hungry Like the Wolf" are solid clues. Mo also went with a rockstar for his guess – Bono. He linked the "Pope hat" on the cameraman to the Irish rocker, who has met the Pope several times. And guest judge, Vicky McClure, suggested Mike Skinner from The Streets after he mentioned their song "Take Me as I Am" in his VT.
On social media, many fans seem to agree with Davina's guess of Simon Le Bon. Others have suggested Martin Fry from ABC or Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet. But we'll just have to keep watching to find out the truth.
The Masked Singer is airing every weekend on ITV1 and ITVX. If you have any guesses or insider information, please reach out to us. We'd love to hear from you!
