Indore experienced moderate rainfall for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, adding over 2.5 inches (401.7 mm) of rainfall to the city in the past three days. The showers began on Wednesday noon and continued to drench the city till Thursday afternoon.
According to the weather station at the airport, the total amount of rainfall recorded from Wednesday night to Thursday evening was 42.4 mm. Meteorological Department officials also informed that various districts of Indore division will witness heavy rainfall on Friday, while Indore district will continue to experience light-to-moderate thunderstorms.
The Met officials elaborated that the monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Satna, Pendra Road, the center of the low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast, and east-southeastwards to East central Bay of Bengal. This is the reason why isolated very heavy rainfall is very likely over West Madhya Pradesh on July 21.
