A delegation from India, consisting of Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, paid their respects to the late Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran on Friday. The Indian representatives attended the funeral ceremony of the esteemed leader, who was tragically assassinated in US-Israeli strikes back in February. Governor Hasnain took to social media to share his experience, stating that he had the honor of representing India at the funeral alongside Minister Margherita.

He also extended his sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent conflict. Margherita also expressed his condolences and highlighted that they were there on behalf of the Indian government and its people. In addition to the Indian delegation, other prominent figures from India also paid their respects to the late Iranian leader.

Congress leader Salman Khurshid, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, and leaders from various religious backgrounds, including Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian, joined in paying homage to the revered leader. Mufti, who took to social media to share her experience, described it as an honor to be in Tehran and express her deepest condolences and solidarity over the loss of Ayatollah Khamenei. She praised him as a fearless leader who stood up for the oppressed and went against the tide.

The funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei will be held publicly in Tehran and Qom on July 5, 6, and 7. The burial will take place in his hometown of Mashhad on July 9. This news was reported by Orissa POST, Odisha's top English Daily.
