Abi Webster was in for a rude awakening when she made a shocking discovery in Coronation Street. As a parent, she dreaded the thought of her child falling ill, but unfortunately, that was the reality she was about to face. It all started when Abi noticed a musty smell in her flat, which she now shared with her son after her relationship with Kevin Webster fell apart.
Living in a rented property, Abi had been dealing with a nightmare landlord who seemed to neglect her complaints about the damp and mold in her flat. It was not just an inconvenience, as the odor had now seeped into her clothes, making them smell bad as well. In a desperate attempt to get her landlord to take action, Abi made a call while Leanne Battersby listened in with sympathy.
Meanwhile, Leanne was contemplating whether to give Idris Nazir another chance after he had meddled with her phone to spend more time with her. However, things took a surprising turn when Abi went to pick up a takeaway and her landlord turned out to be none other than Idris himself. Little did Abi know that this encounter would be the beginning of a nightmare for her and her son.
Later that evening, as Abi sat next to her son Alfie, she noticed that he had a terrible cough. Worried, she decided to take him to the doctor's the next day. Little did she know, underneath Alfie's bed, a horrific black mold had grown due to the poor living conditions in the flat.
This would be the reason why Alfie would end up in the A&E the following week. As doctors advised Abi to find a new place to live immediately, she had no choice but to move back in with Kevin. Meanwhile, Idris and his friend Brody Michaelis were frantically trying to fix the flat, but Leanne and Alya Nazir pointed out that the person who sold Idris the flat may have known about the damp all along.
Feeling overwhelmed and angry, Abi was determined to hold someone accountable for what happened to her son. Sally Webster suggested that Abi seek legal action against her landlord, and she was willing to fight for justice. It was a difficult and emotional time for Abi, but she was determined to protect her son and make sure that no other family would have to go through the same ordeal.
