Bhubaneswar: During the closing session of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 in Bhubaneswar, President Droupadi Murmu expressed her appreciation for the Indian diaspora, describing them as the finest representatives of our country and an essential part of our nation. "As we celebrate the achievements of our Pravasi Bharatiya family, we must also look towards the future with hope and determination," she added. "Together, we can build a 'viksit Bharat', a nation that stands tall on the global stage and continues to be a beacon of light for the world."
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also addressed the gathering, praising the diaspora for their outstanding contributions to both India and the world in various fields, including their immense talent, creativity, dedication, commitment, and perseverance. "They have left an indelible mark on the global society, making our country and its people proud and strengthening our relationships with other nations," he said.
Jaishankar also highlighted India's approach to the world, with the twin perspectives of 'India First' and 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. He stated that in this era of increased inter-dependence, technology flows, and talent mobility, it is the diaspora that will help define India's image as a resurgent civilization.
The valedictory session was attended by other esteemed guests, including Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Ministers Jual Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, Kirtivardhan Singh, and Pabitra Margherita.
