Henry Sandon, beloved Antiques Roadshow expert, has passed away at 95 on Christmas morning.
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the death of Antiques Roadshow expert Henry Sandon. His son confirmed the much-loved TV star died on Christmas morning at a care home in Malvern, Worcestershire at the age of 95.

Henry Sandon had a long and distinguished career, joining the BBC series in 1979 and appointed the curator of the Dyson Perrins Museum at the Royal Worcester factory in 1967. His son, John Sandon, who is also an expert in ceramics and glass, paid tribute to his father saying, “To the millions who tuned in every Sunday evening to watch The Antiques Roadshow, Henry was like a favourite uncle, whose enthusiasm for even the humblest piece of chipped china was infectious. His joy when he discovered a rare Staffordshire pottery owl jug, nicknamed Ozzie, was a magic TV moment few will forget.”

Sandon was an authority on Royal Worcester porcelain and wrote several books on the subject. He held his position as curator of the Dyson Perrins Museum at the Royal Worcester Factory until the early 1980s. He was married to his wife, Barbara, for 56 years until her death in 2013. The couple had three sons together: David, Peter, and John.

We invite everyone to take a moment to honor the life of Henry Sandon and his tremendous contributions to the world of antiques. He will be dearly missed.
