Paisley Billings became a household name in 2015 when she joined the cast of the popular TV show Tattoo Fixers. With her infectious bubbly personality and lovable charm, she quickly won over the hearts of viewers.
Alongside artist Sketch, Paisley was one of the only original cast members to stay on the show for its entire six-season run. However, after bidding a bittersweet farewell, Paisley decided to take a step back from the screen and pursue her passion for performing on a different stage.
Recently, Metro caught up with the 31-year-old star as she took on new roles in London's theatre district. "I feel like if I'm on a stage, I'm living the dream," she shared, referring to her recent performances in both Six and the new Percy Jackson musical, The Lightning Thief.
Some fans of the E4 show may be surprised to see Paisley belting out serious tunes on stage, as many had assumed she was an actual receptionist. "I feel like it wasn't really known that I was always an actor," she laughed. "While I was on the show, I wasn't acting at all."
But theatre has always been Paisley's first love, even though she thoroughly enjoyed her time on Tattoo Fixers. "I think that's what may have caused a little bit of confusion," she explained. "I was a receptionist on TV, but I'll be honest, I don't know much about 'receptioning'."
On the show, Paisley's role was to get clients to open up, and she did so by being her authentic self. This further blurred the line between her on-screen persona and her real-life self. However, Paisley yearned to portray a character for a live audience, something that TV couldn't fulfill.
"I think [Tattoo Fixers ending] was bittersweet," she shared. "I'd been doing it for such a long time, and I really missed performing, but it was also really, really sad to leave it behind."
Despite leaving the show, Paisley reassured fans that she is still in touch with her co-stars, including Sketch, Pash, and Uzzi Canby who joined in season five.
After leaving the world of reality TV, Paisley returned to her first love, theatre, and landed a role in Six, a girl band-style musical about the wives of Henry VIII. "As a kid, I'd always wanted to be a girl band, so I felt like I got to live two childhood dreams at once," she gushed.
Paisley also stars in The Lightning Thief, currently showing at The Other Palace in London, where she plays not one, but seven different characters. "It was quite daunting," she admitted. "With all the changes and everything that has to be done backstage, my backstage choreography is nearly as complicated as the on-stage choreography."
The show has a dedicated fanbase, known as the Queendom, who Paisley calls "incredible" and reminds her of the passionate Percy Jackson fans, aka Demigods. "You expect applause at the end of a number, but when it comes in waves and waves," she recalled. "I am floored by how much love is shown by the audience."
Despite her love for performing on stage, Paisley hasn't said goodbye to TV completely. "If there's a world in which there could be a musical comedy or talk show vibes, that would be quite fun," she teased. "Maybe a documentary here and there."
Currently, The Lightning Thief's run at The Other Palace has been extended until August, and Paisley will be staying with the production for the foreseeable future. "I do really enjoy performing," she shared. "I feel like there's an element of seeing someone in their light and shining from within because they're truly happy with what they're doing and they feel fulfilled. I feel like that's the space I'm in at the moment."
As Paisley continues to shine on stage, fans can also catch her on demand in the popular show Tattoo Fixers.
