Instead of enjoying the rewards of a future album, Ed Sheeran has revealed his plan to create a life-long project which will only be released after his death

The 32-year-old singer has said he will work on the mysterious ‘quote-unquote “perfect”‘ album for the rest of his life, adding songs here and there, and it will be released posthumously.

Ed also opened up about the struggles he faced in the past few years, such as the death of his two friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne, and his wife Cherry Seaborn being diagnosed with a tumour while pregnant.

The musician said he felt like he 'didn’t want to live any more’ as he was powerless to help his wife, but thankfully Seaborn was able to give birth to their daughter Jupiter and had successful surgery in June.

Ed Sheeran has announced that he won't take advantage of one of his upcoming albums, which will be a lifelong task. He mentioned that he would be working on it for the remainder of his days and it will be released following his death.

The 32-year-old acoustic artist said he had five more albums planned to be released after –, which is slated for May 5.

The last in the series is the posthumous Ed Sheeran album, which he plans to keep working on, adding songs gradually.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the singer said: “I want to carefully construct this album that is quote-unquote “perfect” for the remainder of my life, including songs from time to time, and just have it in my will that after I pass away, it is released.”

Ed Sheeran has also opened up about the difficulties he faced in the past few years, including the death of his two friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne.

The loss of his best buddy Jamal had a deep impact on the star, and he was left in shock when his wife Cherry Seaborn was diagnosed with a tumour while expecting.

At the time of the diagnosis, the Shape of You singer said he felt like he 'didn't want to live anymore' and was 'powerless'.

Fortunately, Cherry gave birth to their daughter Jupiter and had a successful surgery in June, but Ed was still affected by the death of Edwards in February 2022.
