Mumbai: According to sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch, the accused in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff had allegedly carried out reconnaissance of several celebrity residences, including those of Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, before the attack. The shooters were reportedly told to focus on celebrities whose security arrangements were comparatively weaker. During this period, different auto-rickshaw drivers are said to have taken the accused to the homes of several stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan.
It is understood that the accused would ask the auto-rickshaw drivers they used to travel around Mumbai to show them the houses of Hindi film actors. They allegedly told the drivers they wanted to click pictures of the celebrities’ residences. Based on these requests, different drivers reportedly took them to the homes of multiple actors.
During this time, an auto-rickshaw driver allegedly informed the accused that Tiger Shroff, son of veteran Hindi film actor Jackie Shroff, regularly visited a football ground in Juhu every Sunday to play football. Acting on this information, the accused reached the football ground on October 11, but Tiger Shroff did not turn up that day. They reportedly returned to the same ground the following Sunday, October 18, this time armed with firearms.
It was during this visit that shots were fired at Tiger’s vehicle. Police sources said some other individuals had also travelled to Mumbai from Haryana during the same period and allegedly conducted reconnaissance before returning to Haryana. After the attack on Tiger, the accused reportedly abandoned both firearms at an unknown location while leaving Mumbai.
According to police sources, the assailants used one foreign-made pistol and one country-made pistol in the attack. The accused allegedly had limited information about the foreign-made weapon they used. On October 20, initial questioning of the accused reportedly revealed an important detail: the Baaghi actor was not the main target.
The Mumbai Police is now working to trace the location where the firearms were discarded. On October 18, Tiger narrowly escaped after three men on motorcycles opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Within hours of the incident, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post.
The accused reportedly came across social media reels shared by Tiger’s fans, which suggested that he did not have police protection at the time. Taking this into account, they allegedly decided to target him. Preliminary questioning also suggested that the attack on Tiger was meant to create fear within the film industry.
Several members of the film fraternity, including Amaal Mallik, Mika Singh, Vidyut Jammwal, Shatrughan Sinha, and Ravi Kishan, have expressed concern after the incident.
